Dear BUCLD 36 speakers and alternates: The Proceedings of the 36th annual Boston University Conference on Language Development will be published in the spring by Cascadilla Press. All speakers and alternates are invited to contribute their papers to the proceedings, which will be available from Cascadilla Press in the spring of 2012. Posters will be published in a separate proceedings supplement. Please keep in mind that this e-mail is being sent to all speakers and alternates. If your paper has multiple authors, only one author (usually the first author) should be coordinating with us. Please have this decided in advance so we don't receive different drafts of the same paper. To publish your paper in the proceedings, you will need to upload a PDF file of your paper by January 25 along with an abstract for your paper and a scan of your signed publication rights form. Also mail your signed publication rights form (signed in ink on paper by ALL authors) by January 25 to the BUCLD office. The volume editors will check your paper's formatting and let you know what, if any, changes need to be made. Once you have a final PDF file of your paper, you will need to mail a printout to the BUCLD office. If you have published in the BUCLD Proceedings before, you may notice that we have made a few changes that we hope you will like: * the deadline is later * you don't need to mail your paper until the formatting is approved * the page limit is now 13 pages instead of 12 (The limit for keynote and plenary speakers is 30 pages and 20 pages for lunch symposium speakers) The formatting requirements, along with complete instructions, are at www.cascadilla.com/bucld36style.html. Please note the font, font size, margins, and paper size requirements. Upload your paper in PDF format and your abstract in text format at http://www.bu.edu/bucld/proceedings/submission/. All authors who contribute papers to the proceedings are entitled to a 20% discount on additional copies of the proceedings. Just mention on your order that you are a contributor to the volume. (This discount does not apply to shipping costs and cannot be combined with the prepublication discount.) If you choose not to publish, we would greatly appreciate knowing the reasons behind your decision. Presentation Materials

Presenters & Alternates, I am reaching out to request presentation materials to be sent soon as the deadline for them to be sent is less than week from now, which is Monday, October 31! If you have sent the presentation materials over already, thank you, and disregard this friendly reminder. A new note: during the presentations, there will be spotlights set up on the podium and on the interpreters. Although we have done a walk through and will repeatedly ensure they are not distracting to the presenter, this is to let you know to expect that there will be spotlights. The ASL interpreters also will stand on a small risen platform off the stage. Again as a reminder, the presentation materials will definitely *not* be published or shared, they will be only for interpreter purposes. The materials can include: outline of presentation/poster, any key terms or names, script, or any special notes; whatever is applicable for your presentation will be fine. BUCLD is quickly approaching and will be underway within two weeks! For those who already sent the materials, thank you! Presentation materials are needed for all presentations and will not be redistributed or published. The materials can include: outline of presentation/poster, any key terms or names, script, or any special notes; whatever is applicable for your presentation will be fine. For presentations using PowerPoint slides, the slides can suffice as presentation material. The materials will be used solely for interpreting purposes. BUCLD Presenters and Alternates, The BUCLD is coming up soon, in only a month from now... definitely closer than we would like to think! I am on the BUCLD committee serving as the Interpreter Liaison. We are expecting some deaf people using American Sign Language to attend the conference. During the conference, we will provide interpreters at all sessions. We also will have interpreters available at the poster session. Because of this, I am here to introduce myself and to request presentation materials. The presentation materials will definitely * not* be published or shared, they will be only for interpreter purposes. The materials can include: outline of presentation/poster, any key terms or names, script, or any special notes; whatever is applicable for your presentation will be fine. For presentations using PowerPoint slides, the slides can suffice as presentation material. The interpreters will study the notes before the sessions. The earlier you can give me your notes, the better but we will definitely need them before Friday, October 28. Again, the materials won't be distributed, shared, or published. They will be destroyed after the session ends. Let me know if you have any questions.
