The BUCLD Organizing Committee
Hello prospective BUCLD 42 attendees!
The 2017 iteration of the BUCLD (November 3-5, 2017) is fast approaching, and we are thrilled to announce two exciting opportunities for students, as well as this year's symposia.
NIH Travel Award for Students
We are pleased to offer a new student travel award. The NIH travel award<http://www.bu.edu/bucld/travel-hotel/nih-travel-award/> is funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health for the purpose of promoting diversity in science. The award is meant to assist students who are interested in attending the Boston University Conference on Language Development by offsetting some of their travel expenses. Students need not be authors on abstracts to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with the greatest need, those who have not previously received a travel award, and underrepresented minorities. The award application deadline is August 15, 2017.
Student Workshop
For the fourth consecutive year, we will be continuing our special session aimed at students and post-docs. This year’s speaker will be Janet Randall (Northeastern University), and her talk will be “One talk, 3 ways.” This session will take place on Sunday, November 5th, after the closing symposium.
Symposia
Our 2017 Saturday Symposium, “On links between language development and extra-linguistic cognitive knowledge: What we can learn from autism” will be presented by Jeannette Schaeffer, Stephanie Durrleman, and Inge-Marie Eigsti. Our Sunday closing symposium, "Event concepts and early word learning", will be given by John Trueswell; Jeffrey Lidz, Alexander Williams, & Laurel Perkins; and Sudha Arunachalam & Angela Xiaoxue He.
